The European standard EN16194:2012, which has been adopted as a Bulgarian standard since 2012, sets out the organizational measures that guarantee the well-being of employees at the workplace.

BDS EN16194 establishes the requirements for mobile toilet cabins and sanitary products, specifying the necessary number of toilet cabins based on the number of employees, the method and frequency of cleaning and waste disposal, while adhering to hygiene, health, and safety obligations so that every employee can work in conditions that protect their basic needs.

Some of the requirements include:

Frequency of user utilization: once within 4 hours; Maximum visits to the cabin before the next waste disposal: 100; From 1 to 10 users: 1 toilet cabin; From 11 to 20 users: 2 toilet cabins; More than 20 users: one additional cabin for every additional 10 users; Cabins are cleaned at least every 5 working days for 8 hours; For ground construction activities, the maximum distance to the toilet cabin should not exceed 100 m; For multi-story construction sites, a toilet cabin should be placed on every other floor of the building.
